On 19th January 2022, Kamgar Sanrakshan Sammaan Sangh(KSSS) organised the ration distribution drive for the hawkers who lost their livelihood due to the shutting down of the Juhu beach in the wake of covid restrictions. No help or compensation has been announced by the government for these poor hawkers with meagre income. Out of 200 hawkers, 100 of them were provided with the kits which was sponsored by the Helping Hands Charitable Trust. Remaining 100 hawkers will be provided in the next few days.

KSSS team members also used this opportunity to explain hawkers about their right to demand compensation for the loss of their work. Adv Lara Jesani from PUCL and Syed Haiderimamfrom AITUC Hawkers Union who came to express solidarity to the hawkers also assured them their support if the hawkers decide to take any legal recourse.
The distribution drive was facilitated by Tammi ji of the Juhu hawker’s association. A big thank you to Tammi ji for coming forward and managing the distribution on the ground so well. We are also very grateful to Anil Hebbar for promptly responding to the request of ration for hawkers and timely fulfilling it.
