Ksss will also be looking into the wage issues of imitation workers and junior artists and technicians in the film industry
Mumbai | 7th July 2022: Workers from different sectors including delivery workers, catering, film industry, app-based workers, construction and domestic workers attended the ‘Join the union’ meeting today in Retreat House Bandra. Organised by the Kamgar Sanrakshan Sammaan Sangh (KSSS), this meeting aimed at unionising the informal sector workers and also to address issues arising in the new forms of employment.
Workers from each sector deposed before panels in the meeting regarding issues of wages, worksite safety, social security, working hours etc. Workers from ZOMATO, Myntra and Dunzo spoke about lack of coverage for road accidents/injuries during deliveries, low rate of payment per delivery vis-à-vis rising petrol prices and arbitrary firing by these companies.

Whereas Junior artists in the film industry, home-based workers like women involved in imitation jewellery and women in the catering industry spoke about low and discriminatory wages.
On this occasion workers from ZOMATO and Dunzo joined the union to fight the arbitrary norms of the company and work towards regularising the gig economy.
Sushovan Dhar of India Labour Line also joined the meeting and spoke at length on the issues of workers rights and social security. He also spoke about the dedicated helpline for workers to report issues of non-payment of wages and other exploitative practices at the worksite.
Ksss will continue its ‘Join the union’ campaign and try to provide support wherever required.
